Karon Beach Resort Goes Green

One of the most upmarket hotels Karon Beach Resort and Spa residing on Karon Beach maintains a constantly high occupancy rate because no other hotel can compete with the luxurious experience the resort provides. Tourists, newlyweds, couples and more visit Phuket’s best beach for the serene Andaman waters and the intimate, private setting the resort provides. The Karon Beach Resort now offers additional benefit to guests because of new green initiatives that help preserve the unique beach and lessen pollution as part of a growing global interest in eco-tourism.

The Thai-styled resort joined the Green Business Asia (GBA) group to bring the total to 12 hotels participating in the International Labour Organisation(ILO) collaboration. The GBA project helps the beach front resort live up to the standard of excellence that its parent company, the Kata Group, is known for. The GBA is well respected by the Japanese government and passes along previous knowledge around green initiates already established elsewhere that helps the Karon Beach Resort deliver an environmentally friendly atmosphere. More clean air initiatives and better quality of water benefits everyone in the community and ties in with the customary Thai-hospitality the resort provides.

The Karon Beach Resort takes its responsibility to reduce energy use and preserve the area seriously due to it’s close proximity to the beach. The GBA programme identified five areas of improvement which consisted of water use, garbage management, housekeeping and mechanical work, energy consumption and guest services. The resort implemented new procedures regarding these subjects that eliminate waste and needless energy consumption. The environment stays natural and protected, and customer service and overall quality is not diminished.

Guests relish in the tranquil setting and secluded atmosphere the Karon Beach Resort and Spa provides. The resort knows that protecting this beautiful area is critical to a customer’s satisfaction. Whether venturing to the neighboring dining and shopping opportunities or lounging at the resort, guests have peace of mind. The environment is being protected and will still be pristine during one’s next visit. The program is a great step forward for sustainable Phuket tourism and ensures many generations will be able to continue to enjoy the pristine beaches.
